The man accused of attacking a radio show host while she led a live prayer service Monday will remain in jail.
Donald Destin, 30, was denied bond by a judge Tuesday during his first appearance.
Deputies arrested Destin around 4:30 p.m. Monday.
Destin said he didn't know the victim personally, but he said he was attracted to her.
However, he said he didn't try to rape the radio personality as people listened live.
They said the suspect was touching himself while making verbal threats.
Marie Olibruce works at the radio station, but heard the encounter on her home radio.
"He came to her like that, and said 'give me the money, give me the money," Olibruce said.
Olibruce said the show host tried to calm Destin down, and even hugged him.
"She said 'OK, slow down, and I will give you the money,' and she was trembling," Olibruce said.
The encounter happened at La Voix Evangelique D'Orlando, 98.9 SCA radio station on Pine Hills Road and Alhambra Drive. The station broadcasts to Haiti from a church. It requires a special transmitter to pick up the signal.
Deputies said Destin tried to rape the host in the studio.
A local listener heard the encounter and called police.
Authorities said the victim remained calm.
She lured Destin outside the building, and then locked herself in her van until authorities arrived.
She was not injured.
Deputies said the suspect went back inside, stole some items from the woman's purse and then left on foot.
The encounter inside the station was caught on surveillance video.
The woman identified Destin from a photo lineup.
He was arrested within 12 hours of the attack.
The incident has served as a wake-up call for the people operating that radio station.
They now plan to hire security to make sure something like this doesn't happen again.
Normally, we do not release details identifying victims in sexual assault or even attempted sexual assault cases.
However, in this specific case, the victim herself came forward in hopes that it would help catch her attacker.
